The new student dormitory was accelerated in the port city
Places for students are still lacking
Currently, students have two dormitories to accommodate students – on Statybininkai Avenue and University Avenue.
The building in the alley is already considered one of the most modern dormitory students in Lithuania – it has modern rooms, common spaces and the environment for students’ needs.
« He’s really very comfortable for students. It’s fun to hear that another dormitory will come nearby, because students’ places for accommodation are still lacking, » said the student Austėja.
There will be an elevator and a gym
The new dormitory will accommodate up to 194 students, as well as 24 places for arrivable lecturers, making it a universal living space for the needs of the university community.

Klaipeda University Vice -Rector for Infrastructure and Development dr. According to Benedict Petrauskas, the dormitory will be built to the highest modern standards.
« It will be an A ++ energy efficiency class building with a roof built in a solar power plant with a power of 69 kW. This solution will not only help save energy, but will also meet the strategic goals of Klaipėda University – to promote environmentally friendly solutions, » stressed B. Petrauskas.
The planned common kitchen and lounge areas on each floor will also be equipped with a gym and rooms adapted to persons with disabilities.
The building will also operate the elevator.
« All of these spaces are created so that students can not only live comfortably, but also have quality conditions for leisure, communication and active lifestyle, » said Petrauskas.

The project is implemented for $ 7.8 million. and the construction work is planned to be completed in June 2026.
Guests will also live
The dormitory will be dedicated to students of Klaipeda University, but there will also be lecturers, doctoral students and other members or guests of the university community.
« The project is part of the consistent development of Klaipeda University campus and a great investment in the future of students – a modern, functional and inclusive space where students will feel like home, » said B. Petrauskas.
According to him, the dormitory construction project is not only an investment in infrastructure, but also in the attractiveness of the city as a study place.
