The new Rostock police call takes you into the dark abysses of the forest on Sunday

The forest is white and silent. It is a repellent world full of cold, in which two angry young animal rights activists stand in front of a popular Rehricke. Then a ball hits the head of one of the girls and the second runs for his life. What a violent start to a Sunday thriller that breathes a cold into the living room for 89 minutes this beginning of 89 minutes, The one shiver– but some don’t let it cold. This rostockPolice call « Born evil » (Sunday, 8:15 p.m., ARD) has it all, in the truest sense of the word.

He is the son of a women’s murderer

The police team is investigating this time beyond the city and coast in the forest, because there the internally hardened Eva Greuner (Jördis Triebel) and her extremely closed son Milan (Eloi Christ) run a small fish smokehouse. He is an outsider, child of a multiple women’s murderer, the product of rape. She still loves the stubborn boy, but distrust him. What if the father’s evil has been planted in the child? Because the boy strips through the forest with the rifle, is sometimes bloody, but nothing tells, he quickly suspects to be the murderer of the activist.

In the « police call » episode « Evil Born », the commissioners Katrin König (Anneke Kim Sarnau, left) and Melly Böwe (Lina Beckmann) are literally in the forest.

Milan is not the only one who doesn’t wear his heart on his tongue. There is still the forester family, in which it is as cold as inside as outside in the forest. And the investigators Katrin König (Anneke Kim Sarnau) and Nelly Böwe (Lina Beckmann) also prefer to carry their personal packages silently – whereby Böwe is taking an unexpected commitment in the course of the story, which also has to do with a violent event. Private and investigative work interlock again, but not as intrusive as in some “crime scene” team.

In « Evil Born » it is not so much about the sensitivities of police officers, but about what violence once experienced in people can do and whether this evil is actually passed on. In this episode, this will definitely be, although not genetically, but by the bad experiences that have shaped or messed up a life.

This « police call » doesn’t leave you cold

The script by Catharina Junk and Elke Schuch is coherent, luckily, without any instructive lectures. Suffering and despair are reflected in the faces and small gestures. Because this is a « police call » about dark family relationships that do not exude a little bit of joy or hope, director Alexander Dierbach staged him in pale colors as a winter forest thriller with light horror elements (sloping mannequins hang on trees), which would have fit perfectly for a death cloudy November day. With all the depressed mood, which is conveyed here: It has become a gripping episode that-in contrast to the Dragqueen Kasperltheater of the youngest Munich « police call »-actually leaves touched.
