The new National Hospital in Bratislava will be a strategic investment, the government has decided
They estimate the costs at over a billion euros.
Malá Lehota. New National University Hospital of General Milan Rastislav Štefánik, which is to be built in Bratislavawill be a strategic investment. The total planned investment costs estimate the level of EUR 1.27 billion without VAT.
This was decided by the government at its external meeting in Malá Lehota in the Žarnovica district.
It also agrees to the implementation of this hospital in close cooperation of the Minister of Health Kamila Šaška (Voice) with the Minister of Defense Robert Kalinak (Direction).
Increasing the quality of care
The proposal for the designation of the National University Hospital for a strategic investment was drawn up by the investor’s decision, which is represented by the Slovak Republic by state authorities, the Ministry of Defense and the Ministry of Health.
« The investment project meets the special strategic requirements under the Strategic Investment Act, as it is the construction of a medical facility that will be included in the public minimum network of providers and the planned investment project expenditure exceeds EUR 50 million, » the Ministry of Health says.
At the same time, the government agrees to the implementation of this hospital in close cooperation of the Minister of Health Kamil Šaška (vote) with Defense Minister Robert Kaliňák (Smer) and its financing from capital expenditure, providing project documentation and starting construction work and adjusting the need for a separate functional security base for the construction of strategic investment.

The aim of the project is to improve the quality of the healthcare provided and build new beds. There should be 950 beds in the hospital, including 800 standard and 150 ICU/ARO.
According to the resort, the area of the former military barracks in Vajnory, on Regina Street in Bratislava, is to be the territory of the investment. « The territory of the investment is defined by land owned by the Slovak Republic, » he says.
According to the proposal, 44,000 terminated hospitalizations should be in the National Hospital. The average expected hospitalization length is expected to be 5.3 days. The concept also assumes that the new hospital will operate approximately 150 outpatient clinics, 23 operating theaters (outside the intervention or sectional halls) and complete joint investigative and treatment components.
Comprehensive care
This hospital is intended to provide comprehensive care, without the need for unnecessary moving of the patient between workplaces within the catchment area of Bratislava, results from the material.
At the same time, the Cabinet awarded the ministers of the Hospital in connection with the construction of the hospital. Šaško is supposed to develop a framework medical plan for the National University Hospital by 30 June.

Minister of Education Tomáš Drucker (Vote), according to the resolution, should assess the possibilities of using the capacity of the investment project for the needs of teaching, science and research. Then he is supposed to propose the necessary measures to Šašek and Kaliňák, which could be taken into account in the implementation of the hospital.
