Sweden. The Court of Appeal maintained a verdict of 14 years in prison for a Polish murderer
– The accused was unable to present any reasonable explanation why it was an accident. In addition, his testimonies were overthrown by the evidence presented by the prosecutor – emphasized judge Erik Lindberg.
The defense versions were also contradicted by the testimonies of witnesses, including an eyewitness to the event, the son of the murdered Mikael. The Court of Appeal found it impossible that the Pole would be murdered by mistake.
« Three shots were fired, they were fired in two sequences (…), the bullets hit different places, the trigger of the weapon had to be pulled every time, » judge Lindberg justified the verdict.
The perpetrator was 17 at the time of the crime. In this case, the maximum penalty in the Swedish penal code is 14 years. If the perpetrator were of adult, he would face life imprisonment.
Judgment for Pole’s killer caused great indignation of the family. Aneta Demir, sister of the deceased 39-year-old, said in an interview with « Fakt » that he was unfair.
– No punishment will bring us Michał, but these are already jokes. The murderers lacked a month to age and convicted to be a lifetime punishment. 14 years is not fair. He took his life from Michał and took away his chance for a normal life from his son Michał and the whole family – Mrs. Aneta told us.

The 18-year-old first came into conflict with the law when he was only 9 years old.
The Pole’s case caused a stir in the Swedish society, a manifestation took place at the crime scene, and a collection was organized for the son of the victim. Politicians declared uncompromising in the fight against crime.
