The most active blood donor. « I said to save lives »

The most active Sibiu blood donor is Peter Fehervari, 46 years old, which offered blood 136 times in the last 26 years, the equivalent of about 54.4 liters of blood, the Public Health Directorate (DSP) on Saturday.

‘I said to do good, to save lives, that’s why I chose to donate. Many people need blood, globules, affection, everything. I know how important it is to be available when needed. I always donated, they called me from home when it was needed. I feel fulfilled, I feel it is important to help. I was never as a transfusion beneficiary but I needed for my father and a cousin. I hope to donate as many people as possible because the involvement makes the difference ‘, said the most active donor of the Sibiu transfusion center, Petru Fehervari.

The Center for Blood Transfusion Sibiu organized, on Friday, a large blood donation campaign, in the context of marking the World Day of Blood (June 14).

In Sibiu, over 8,000 people donated blood in 2024, out of over 40,000 Sibiu registered as donors, in the records of the Local Transfusion Center.

Blood donation can be done with programming in the two available applications, according to DSP Sibiu.

‘Blood management is a delicate problem, depending on the daily consumption of the rounded hospitals and which, adjust daily. This is why in order to be able to control this stock, at the Sibiu Transfusion Center, the donation is made on the basis of programming through the two platforms, ‘Donorium’ and ‘Bloodochallenge, « explained the director of the Sibiu Transfusion Center, Livia Mareș.

The amount of blood collected from a single donor varies between 200 (for platelets by afferesis) and 400 milliliters (standard donation). With the help of a blood bag, however, they can be saved up to three lives. This is why DSP Sibiu encourages blood donation and thanks to all donors.

‘There are people who once a few months make a noble gesture, donate blood! We owe them today a great thank you! We are leaning with respect in front of them! But beyond our thanks, the gratitude and thoughts of the patients who benefited from this altruistic gesture, who received an additional chance at life, are more important. We owe a special thanks to Mr. Petru Fehervari, the most active donor of our county, a man with a great heart, who, together with the medical staff, saved hundreds of lives. He is today, along with the other donors, our hero and thank him for teaching us how to be better people. We are grateful, Mr. Petru Fehervari, we are grateful donors! Thank you for your gesture! In addition to the health benefits offered by blood donation, donors also benefit from 280 lei for each donation in the form of cards. These can be used later for the purchase of food.
