Both that time and now Kaunas residents said that the vandals are stuck with the memory signs that speak of the history of Lithuania. Readers of Kauno diena have noticed that students often spend time in the rest of the schools, but there are other audiences.

It is often observed that benches were occupied by alcoholic persons. It is difficult to say whether they were caught by the monuments or whether something specifically destroyed them, but the townspeople are convinced that the Memory Park memory should be more protected.

Gintaras Gatulis, Head of the Public Order Division, told Kauno diena that the city camera and the view were observed in the tranquility park, but unnecessarily the records are not reviewed.

« CCTV camera records can only be reviewed on a legal basis – at the request of an infringement, » Gatulis noted.

The monument will arrange

Saulius Rimas, Head of the Cultural Heritage Department, told Kauno diena that the measures would be assessed, and the place of the temporary mausoleum of S. Darius and S. Girėnas would be arranged.

The newspaper asked: Perhaps more changes should be made in the Peace Park? Now this place is neither a cemetery nor the park. Often, the signs at the entrances to the parking are that dogs cannot be transported here.

In addition, it is stated at the entrances that here is an old cemetery that is not working now, but there is a gymnasium nearby, with a children’s playground. It is abundantly visited and is in no way associated with seriousness. However, the city specialists have not yet seen the need to make transformations in the Peace Park and to highlight the cemetery, the monuments in the park, or, on the contrary, the space is more to be arranged to resemble a regular park.

« Most of the public would like the park to stay in peace. We are not planning to change anything yet, » Rim said.
