The Mobile Mobile Featllish lights Brera with an entertainment of ES Devlin

The British artist ES Devlin will make Library of Lighta light installation in the courtyard of honor of the Pinacoteca di Breracertainly between The events not to be missed of this design week. To commission it is the Mobile salonwhich now reveals the final gem of a dense and interesting program of appointments, both within the spaces of the fair and in the city.

After Bob Wilson (at the Castello Sforzesco), Paolo SorrentinoPierre-Yves Rochon, the lighting forum and an interesting cycle of talk (in Rho Fiera Milano), the list of super guests involved for the 2025 edition of the event extends.

Open to the public from 7 to 21 April, Library of Light strengthens the collaboration between the Salone and the Great Brera, already marked by the construction of the Wooden temple to works by Mario Cucinella in the courtyard of Palazzo Citterio.

Multidisciplinary artist known all over the world for his light installations, Es devlin will bring a huge in the Brera courtyard Library of light that celebrates the power of books and the sharing of knowledge.

« During the inspection, seeing Es devlin walking in this courtyard and inside the Braidense National Library was a stimulus for us that we know this space and we have been traveling for many years, » he commented Maria Porropresident of Salone del Mobile.Milano.

In the center of the Courtyard of honordated seventeenth century, which connects the Pinacoteca di Brera, the Braidense National Library and the Academy of Fine Arts, we will see a monumental structure with a circular shape with a diameter of 18 meters, made up of light shelves containing Over 2000 volumes.

Characterized by a rotating floor and bright shelveswill be positioned slightly out of axis compared to the center of the courtyard, creating a system similar to that of one sundial. During the day, while the structure will revolve just like a compass, the sunlight, reflected by the inclined mirrors that cover the library, will illuminate the columns, the statues of the portico and points of the building never reached first by the sun’s rays. At night, its light structure will design suggestive shadows on the walls of the courtyard.

A real open -air library, inside which meetings and readings will be held. Among the voices of Artists, writers, curators and innovatorsthere will also be that of ES Devlin who will read the words of Maria Gaetana Agnesithe only female figure to whom a statue is dedicated inside the Pinacoteca. « Library of Light – commented the artist – is a tribute to this woman who has been able to illuminate her time, navigating between science, philosophy and spirituality: this installation wants to bring her light back to the center of the narrative ».

Inside the shelves there will be beyond 2,000 volumes selected and donated by Feltrinelli on the topic Thought for humanschosen by the Salone del Mobile as a fil rouge of the 2025 edition. As in a real library, visitors will be able to browse them and donate their own, helping to expand this public archive, which at the end of the event will be donated to the Milan librarian system.

Two appointments to mark on the agenda: Monday 7 ES Devlin will make a lesson for all the students of the Academy e Tuesday 8 He will be the protagonist of a moderate talk by Sarah Douglas (2.30 pm, at the fair).
