As LETA informed the State Chancellery, the proposals prepared by the ministries will include specific action plans with the results, funding calculations and sources.
The Demographic Affairs Council discussed the demographic situation in Latvia and global trends, as well as the information report on the development of demographic policy by the Ministry of Welfare. Prime Minister Evika Siliņa (JV) has expressed the view that available and flexible services, quality education, health care and housing availability are issues that determine families’ well -being and safety in everyday life and in the long run. In her words, it is important to strengthen thoughtful state support, not only on benefits, but more broadly.
Siliņa highlights that her government’s « 4×4 » priority tasks plan focused on gradual improvement of benefits, improving housing access, developing flexible childcare services and implementing a « school program ».
The participants of the discussion emphasized the reduction of bureaucracy in the reduction of the support mechanisms of family support, support for various target groups, and emphasized the role of municipalities.
The Prime Minister has highlighted the importance of a stable and supportive family in the context of the well -being of children, the strengthening of the family as a value in society, and the provision of equal opportunities. « It is our task to create an environment in which every child has equal opportunities – both in education and interest classes and access to health care. Special attention is needed for families with one parent raising a child to prevent and reduce social inequalities, » the Prime Minister said.
At the meeting of Children and Family Policy, Līga Āboliņš, a freelance advisor to the Prime Minister, said it is important to use all existing potential for families who want children to give solutions, both in strengthening the role and value of the family and strengthening the services of services they need. « The municipalities and how they develop dialogue with families and their needs in the field of home and work and family life balance play an important role, » Abolina says.
