The flamethrower has an ammunition consisting of a combat thermobaric part and a jet engine. After hitting the target, the combat part is undermined and sprayed, forming an aerosol cloud with a diameter of 7-8 m. In 0.2 seconds, the aerosol explodes, forming a fiery ball at a temperature of up to 2500 ° C.
In addition, the combat part has a fragmental effect – fragments fly by 25 m around the perimeter.
The instructor of the 118th OMB « Gleba » said that the maximum range of RVP-16 fire is 1000 m and the sight-600 m. A direct shot can be performed from a distance of up to 300 m.
« Its purpose is the lesion of a living force that has been hidden in some shelters. It can be DOT, armor, dzot, light armored equipment, trenches. It is designed to maximize the lesion with this aerosol, which is sprayed, » he explained.
The initial firing of the Ukrainian Flamewet of RVP-16 took place at the training ground in the Chernihiv region in 2017. In October 2018, weapons adopted the Ukrainian Army.
