The Milan Design Week will host the Baltic Design Exhibition Tactile Baltic / Day

The exhibition introduces visitors to the world’s largest design event – Milan’s design week – with innovation, traditions and cultural values ​​of our region. Latvia Tactile Baltics represents seven designers and studios – Gater Works, ether, Dace moss, Studio Sarmīte, Artis Niemann, Emma Sofia and Boterra. The exhibition is open until April 13 in Lita Castle.

Tactile Baltics Collect design works – furniture, light objects, textile design, dishes and home decor – united by sustainable and circulating approach, as well as experiments with material, especially focusing on design tactile qualities. Visitors to the exhibition can learn how traditional crafts in the Baltic contemporary design combine with modern technology, revealing the interaction between shapes, functionality and cultural heritage, creating unique design items.

The Latvian Ambassador to Italy Elita Gavele, as well as Lithuanian Ambassador Party CreiiVienne participated in the opening of the exhibition (Dalia Kreii sim) and Estonian ambassador Lauri Bamboo (Lauri Bambus). « Being in the world’s biggest design week is the issue of prestige of every country. I am glad that we have a sake of participating and we can be equivalent to other participants with our exhibit. It is beautiful that we start together as three Baltic States, it is an opportunity to pay more attention to us. Ambassador Elita Gavele says about the exhibition.

« Membership Tactile Baltics Has opened a new perspective for me. There is something strong – to see Latvia, Lithuania and Estonia in a single space and dialogue. This makes us aware that while we each have our own voice, we all have a common sensitivity to material, shape and narrative, creating a united Baltic design language. The Baltic design is not loud, it does not run with trends, but it clearly shows awareness, our values ​​and emotions. The exhibition reflects the generation of designers who are deeply focused on the topics of identity, ecology and cultural heritage, « says Emma Sofia, one of the exhibitors.

Dita Danosa, the exhibition’s project manager and curator of the Latvian exhibition, points out that participation in Milan’s Design Week is an opportunity to highlight the creative potential of the Baltic and outline herself on the European Design Map. « I’m truly excited about visitors’ great interest in the first days of the exhibition – there are people who have gone specifically to Palazzo Litta to view Tactile Baltics. The flow of visitors is high, many visitors are delayed longer and exploring our designs, trying to feel them tactile – tapping or sitting down – and asking about the design process and the story, « Dita Danos shares her experience.

Studio SarmiteLeaded by Latvian designer and material researcher Sarmīte Polakova, the exhibition presents a collection of luxury cabinets and bedside tables Reminiscentthat covered with Pineskin material. The delicate, skin -like material is made of pine bark and brings a warm gamut and forest smell to the room, providing a rich sensory experience.

Experienced glass artist Artis Niemann participates in the exhibition with laconic sculpture New Line. Using innovative glass processing techniques and sophisticated titanium coatings, the artist has created a symphony of light, color and shape. The reflective surface enhances the visual appeal of the sculpture by calling for introspection and imagination.

Contemporary textile artist Emma Sofia shows hand -woven tapestry Desiremade of cotton, wool, linen and silk. This work explores mental health, addiction and self -reserve, the theme of the « gravity » discussed, as opposed to gentle texture and silent tone gamut.

Designer Dace Son combines science and poetics in her work. For the exhibition Tactile Baltics she created a new light object in a series Vertical Fractal Helium Candles, inspired by fractals in nature. The luminaire is made of transparent glass tubes filled with helium and emits a gentle, yellowish -pink light, creating an ethereal mood.

Ceramic Design Studio Boterra, led by artist Irita Tilane-Pakalnina, participates in the exhibition with a collection Sweet Water, inspired by the northern lakes. The unique, hand -made ceramic work is resembling the sun -lit stones in the depths of the lake, capturing the unexpected beauty of nature.

Functional bookshelf Mara is part of the studio Gater Works First furniture collections inspired by the Latvian visual code. The shelf structure is borrowed from the cross of Mara, and its robust shape is rooted in the vernacular joinery. The naive form of form, which designers managed to present in an elegant way, gives a vote to a new and once familiar aesthetics, contrary to the continuous search for novelty in design.

Award -winning Architecture and Design Studio Ether Tactile Baltics Present the furniture collection dedicated to ASMR’s theme, which embodies the soothing sensory experience in functional objects. Inspired by biomorphic growth patterns in nature and the human body, the furniture collection invites you to touch and interact. Collection is a continuation of the exhibition Weird Sensation Feels Good: The World of Asmr At the London Design Museum for which design Ether have received several awards.

Designer Mant Lesauskas is represented at Lithuania’s exhibition (Mantas Lesauskas) with T SW bookshelves – a functional and poetic object for small books. Experimental designer Viļi Dringel (Vilius Dringel) Tactile Baltics present the candlestick Dinner in brussels, Inspired by the Kebab Foil wrapping near the European Parliament building.
