Today marks the 100th anniversary of the birth and 44 years since the death of Gerasim Griovski, also known as the postman, a man with a rich biography, but also a man who deserves a great deal of gratitude for his sacrifice in the Macedonian People’s Liberation Struggle in World War II, as well as his construction efforts. He was born on May 31, 1925 in Budinarci, a village in the Maleshevia area, in the vicinity of the city of Berovo, today the municipality of Berovo. At the age of eighteen, in 1943, he was involved in the Macedonian People’s Liberation and Anti -Fascist Struggle, when the eighteenth Macedonian Brigade was formed in the Mitrashin Field. In 1944, more precisely on November 13, as a member of the Macedonian Brigade, he participated in the decisive fighting for the liberation of Skopje and through the stone bridge together with the Macedonian fighters enters the Square of Liberation Skopje.
After the liberation of Macedonia and the construction of the modern Macedonian state, he devoted himself to the development of his own end and his native Budinarni. Unlike many, Gerasim nurtured sincere love for his birthplace and did not go to Berovo or Skopje, on the contrary he remained to build a better life for the villagers. As a manager of the Budinarci PTT unit in Budinarci-OOZT-Kocani and president of the local community, he was aimed at promoting the lives of people from that area. On one occasion, in the newspaper « Nova Makedonija », whose correspondent has been for many years, he said: « From the liberation to date, I have been constantly engaged. Since the formation of the local community I have been its president. I have been a board for about 20 years, and now I am a delegate to the Municipality of Berovo and I have a long time.
Gerasim Griovski, the Statist, received recognition from Macedonian society for his professionalism and social duties. He was decorated with a silver wreath medal in 1967 by SFRY President Josip Broz Tito. Gets other so -called. Gerasim Griovski-Standard has never forgotten his comrades from World War II, who have laid down their lives for the freedom of the Macedonian people and Macedonian statehood. Gerasim Griovski-Statar has a general respect from the inhabitants of Budinarci, Berovo and Maleshevo, and are the beautiful memories and pride that his character and work is caused by his family generations.
