The man said, « Baby, I’m a woman. »
A man, a client of the YMCA North Kansas City in Missouri, entered the women’s locker room and exposed his intimate area to a 7-year-old girl and her mother.
When he was confronted by the mother, the man said, « Baby, I’m a woman. »
The representatives of YMCA have made public a statement stating that « individuals are allowed to use the locker room or toilet with whom they identify. »
« YMCA from Greater Kansas City is up to date with the incident. We continue to investigate but we cannot give more details at the moment. We also cooperate with the North Kansas City Police Department. The safety and well -being of all our members is a priority and we take this concern seriously.
We respect all state and local laws, and natural persons are allowed to use the locker room or toilet with which they are identified. At North Kansas City Ymca, we also have four universal private lockers available, separated from the larger common locker rooms, for anyone who prefers the intimacy. «
The North Kansas City Police Department confirmed to investigate the case, but did not provide additional details.
The girl’s mother, who wants to remain anonymous to protect her family, stressed that this is not a gender identity problem.
« This is not a case of transition. This is a problem in which someone shows the parts of my child’s body in a room where they should be protected from such things, » she said.
