The main problem that excites Narva youth is difficulties with the search for work. So – you have to leave
On Tuesday, the Narva Youth Parliament presented three relevant research on the views of Narva youth on the present and future of the city. It is noteworthy that the studies are prepared by the young Narvityans themselves. But to the invitation to participate in the public discussion “One Youth – Three Views”, mainly representatives of the City Board, CityPrava and the older generation responded mainly. There were young people at the event in the town hall – count on the fingers.
The studies were conducted by the youth parliament of Narva, a member of the board of the Narva company Geneva and the program director of the concert house and the Geneva night club Vladimir Aret, the Youth cell of the Estonian social democratic party. Young people aged 13 to 26 were shared by their opinions and ideas, 19-year-olds turned out to be the most active.
– We conducted a study in order to find out how satisfied are the young Narvites with the capabilities for self -realization, to conduct leisure, which they lack in the city to feel good here, whether they are associated with their future with the Narva. This knowledge is necessary for us in the planning of our activities, ”the chairman of the Narv youth parliament of Zlata Karuka designated the goals of the work done. Almost the same goals were the basis of two other studies.
What are their results? If you do not delve into minor differences in three studies, then in general such a picture is loomed: young people are not satisfied with life in Narva, and 65 % of young Narvites want to leave their hometown.
The top 5 problems that excite the young generation are as follows: in the first place-difficulties with the search for work and part-time jobs, internships, low salaries; Then there are problems with the study of the Estonian and English language, the lack of free courses where you could pull up your it and financial literacy, strengthen your psychological stability; few opportunities for obtaining higher education; lack of places for leisure and interesting events that would be intended specifically for young people; And finally-the outflow of youth to other cities and countries, which is why not a very inspirational image of the city of pensioners stuck to Narva.
« Make us beautiful »
Do young people want to change something in the city themselves, to influence the situation? The vast majority (up to 50% of respondents) believe that young people must participate in the development of the city. But, apparently, they have little idea how exactly this can be done. For example, according to the study of the youth parliament, 82% of young people spend their free time at home or on the street, believing that there is nowhere to go and have nothing to do; 90 % know about the existence of a youth center, but only 10 % visit it. However, Zlata Caruke soothes, similar statistics are observed throughout Estonia.
In general, such a picture is loomed: young people are not satisfied with their lives in Narva, and 65 percent of young Narvites want to leave their hometown.
“In my opinion, the main problem of our youth is the rejection of responsibility, apoliticality,” Oleg Garashin, a member of the Youth cell of the Social Democratic Party of Estonia, vigorously declares. -For some reason, it is believed that politics is a dirty business. See for yourself: only 17.7 % of those who participated in our survey are going to vote in the upcoming municipal elections, although more than 40 % estimated the work of the current City Board as unsatisfactory. And more than 50 % replied that they did not know anything about the City Board at all. So what civil liability are we talking about?!
There are ideas and plans
It should be noted that only a presentation of the results of three studies in the Narva Town Hall was not limited. The youth center voiced its new ideas for work: to create a platform in cooperation with the unemployment cashier on which to publish a list of possible jobs for young people; renew your technical equipment to open free educational courses; To open a language club, to work out opportunities for psychological assistance with the Estonian language, and in the near future, to make your social networks more attractive and informative.
Geneva’s program leader Geneva shared plans to support local creative undertakings and change the cultural space of the CD, turning it into a multifunctional center where it could be experimented, to create musical works.
– It is clear that this will not stop the outflow of young people from Narva, we are not so naive. But the meaning of these actions is that those who stay here to live and work can use these capabilities, develop, actively get involved in the life of the city, says Vladimir Ariet.
According to Oleg Garashin, the young Narva social democrats at this time want to focus on educational work aimed at developing political awareness and involvement.
The gathered in the town hall and about whether it is a lot or still does not get the possibilities for active youth leisure, why Narva youth does not show interest in entrepreneurship, as, for example, other provincial towns of Estonia – for example, Paide and Viliandi. Well, is it worth it to be afraid of statements that youth dreams of leaving their hometown to the « big world »? In the opinion of your correspondent, this is a completely natural desire. The question is different: does it want to return?
