The main construction work of the largest real estate project in the country began

At 10 o’clock, a ceremony began at the construction site next to the main railway station in Ljubljana at the beginning of the construction of the Emonika Multifunctional Complex, and the President of the OTP Bank had addresses Sandor CsanyMinister of Economy Matjaz Han and Minister of Infrastructure Alenka Bratusek.

The complex with a shopping center, two hotels, business premises and three residential buildings is expected to come to life in 2027. According to last year’s estimates, the value of the project will exceed € 350 million. The first preparatory work for Emonika was started after about 20 years of complications last spring. The complex will extend north and south of the railway tracks in the area between Vilharjeva and Vienna Road and the Liberation Front Market.

Emonika represents the private part of the regulation of the central part of the Ljubljana railway station. This one is already getting a new, more modern design, and the construction of a new bus station is expected to begin soon. While investors in the new railway and bus station are the state and the Slovenian Railway Company, Emonika is an investment of Mendota Invest from the Hungarian banking group OTP.

« The Slovenian bank OTP is one of the largest, as well as one of the best in our system, » Csany said at today’s ceremony, adding that the OTP is not only investing in the bank, but also developing an Emonika business project, where the bank’s headquarters will be headquartered. Csany is pleased that the OTP is part of the largest private investment project in Slovenia.

Minister Han said that « today’s ceremony is not just the beginning of construction, but a message that investors are trusting Slovenia’s potential. With the start of the construction of Emonika, Slovenia is reinforced as a geo -strategic force. Emonika is an example of the connection of the Slovenian and Hungarian economy. Construction brings years of contract and work for locals. Once the Emonika doors open, the project will provide jobs in the long run. « 

The mayor of Ljubljana also spoke at the ceremony Rok Žnidaršičwho today labeled the event as an important milestone coming 23 years after the beginning of urban development of this part of the city with a public urban competition. Together with the emerging public infrastructure, this space will symbolically connect the country and Central Europe. He thanked the OTP for moving the Emonika project in the last six years.

The City of Ljubljana will be part of the regulation of the Ljubljana Passenger Center area, where it is already growing and will grow several other real estate complexes, contribute to the construction of communal infrastructure and the regulation of public space.

Bratushkova said at the official beginning of the Emonika works today: “The Ljubljana Passenger Center is one of the most important projects in Slovenia. In addition to the passenger center, a bus station will be built. A node is established that will connect people and businesses. The Emonika project will turn this part of Ljubljana into a pleasant part of Ljubljana. The Passenger Center is an example of effective cooperation between the private and public sectors. What will be built will have long -term effects. « 

Although the wider area of ​​the area regulating the area is not a public-private partnership, current construction work in the area of ​​the train station, according to the Minister, is a show of how important coordination and constructive cooperation between different partners from the public and private sector is based on a common vision.

Mendota Invest has already selected Strabag for the implementation of the main construction work in the northern part of the complex, as well as the mogotel Hotel Group of the French group Accor as the manager of the first hotel as part of Emonika. The hotel will wear the Tribe brand. Strabag also performs preparatory work for the southern part of the complex, where both will be the central elements of Emonika – a 100 -meter 23 -storey building and a shopping center with 82 outlets.
