The liturgy with the relics of St. George the Victorious traditionally sanctified Struga

In lavishly decorated epitaphs and with traditional torches, the relics of « St. George the Victorious », the miraculous icon of the saint and the Krnin Icon of the Virgin, today they consecrated Struga.

Traditionally, on May 7, the relics and the miraculous icons, worn by reputable citizens, led by the local priesthood, fraternities and sisters, departed from the Temple of St. George and passed through the Struga streets accompanied by long procession.

The novelty of this year’s Struga Eordia (Litia), as a sister Efima from the Women’s Monastery in Rajcica, is the inclusion of the icon of the Mother of God « Glycophilus », an identical replica of the first educational glycophilusa (sweetest, or murmurs).

At the helm of the Eordia went to a member of the Bigorski Brotherhood with Klepalo, then carriers of crosses, ripids, flags, psalms, the fraternity of the monastery of St. John Bigorski, the Orchestra of the City of Skopje, the miraculous icons of St. George, the Victorious  » of the Debar-Kichevo Diocese and Bishop Antanian Parthenius.

According to tradition, this year the procession was led by a ceremonial police vehicle, which will symbolically mark the celebration of St. George St. George as a patron of the police and security forces. In front of the lituris, a cavalry dressed in Roman tribunal military clothing, made of authentic materials, which is a faithful copy of the original military armor of the time, and the work of a famous Italian expert on the history of the ancient Roman Empire. The cavalry was with an olive twig in his hand as a symbol of peace.
