The lid on does not save the police after the murder of Mohamed, writes Lisa Magnusson

The story was so puzzling from the beginning: A family contacts the police and says that their 14-year-old has disappeared from Nässjö since over a day back, and they are very rally because something has happened to him. But the police are content with sending a text message to his cellphone that he should hear from him (P4 Jönköping 11/3).

He can’t. He has, according to the indictment, been kidnapped by men in the criminal network Foxtrot, who keeps him prisoner in an apartment in Stockholm. A few days later the likes of two children are found in the forest. One is Mohamed, as the boy was called, the other his friend Layth (DN 15/3 2023).

The police’s internal investigation of their own actions is closed. But how can’t it be considered wrong to ignore a lost child, and information about a gang -related murder?

Maybe the police had Not to save them even though they have done everything in their power. But they didn’t even try. They did not call for, no investigation work began. In the notification they have not even noted the correct place (DN 24/4).

Why? It was so strange, everything, even when it was first discovered. It didn’t really go together. But now the answer has come, thanks to P4 Jönköping’s unanimous trench (23/4): The police simply did not care enough. Instead, they rallied over Mohamed’s mother’s origin, and her bad Swedish.

They did not call in Some interpreter or interrogate the mother about what she knew, joked internally about calling her and talking to her « on her best Somali ». Not even when the family shared information that the boy was murdered did they take the case seriously.

The police’s internal investigation of their own actions is closed down (P3 News 9/4). But how can’t it be considered wrong to ignore a lost child, and information about a gang -related murder? And if everything went right; Why then did the managers say to investigate whether the handling should still be evaluated?

Now the Ombudsman is launching his own investigation. Good. For the lid on, the police do not save this total accident.
