The leadership debate about « Yes, Bulgaria »: Everyone declared themselves against the vote of distrust and « clenching of teeth » to the euro
Future coalitions, the fight against corruption, the rule of law, the right measures and the addicts in the regulators – these were the main topics that discussed the contenders for the presidential post of « Yes, Bulgaria » within the first leadership debate, which took place on Tuesday on Tuesday (April 15). The internal party choice is scheduled for two weeks, with all members of the formation on October 27, they will choose their next leader.
Within the debate, all six candidates – Bozhidar Bozhanov, Veselina Alexandrova, Elisaveta Belobradova, Ivaylo Mirchev, Nadezhda Yordanova and Svilen Trifonov, agreed on the thesis that the forthcoming vote against the Government « Zhelyazkov » is not a PR campaign. An argument for this was the entry of Bulgaria into the euro area, which should not be placed at risk.

« We will grit your teeth for two more months »
Ivaylo Mirchev said that the no -confidence vote that will prepare « We continue the change – Democratic Bulgaria » will be submitted when the opposition can propose a decision and a management plan.
After someone has endured for 15 years Peevski and Borisov and their deribets, in the next two months they will be able to grit their teeth, and then we will do the job adequately and fulfill our commitments to our followers.
Nadezhda Yordanova supported Mirchev’s thesis and said that in April it could not be predicted whether and what reason for the overthrow of the government would be in June. According to her, the use of the constitutional procedure, when an alternative is not presented, is irresponsible.
However, they both united about the thesis that « Yes, Bulgaria » would show no tolerance to abuse of power. |
Ivaylo Mirchev added that the adoption of the pan -European currency is a strategic priority of the country, which will lighten many processes, and he announced that one of the big banks in the country is currently being sold.
Coalitions are inevitable
The contenders for the leadership post in Yes, Bulgaria have announced the thesis that the coalitions – whether before or after the election, are inevitable. Most of the participants focused on possible configurations for the drafting of a parliamentary majority, with only Elisaveta Belobradova declared himself a parting with « We continue the change. » According to her, « Yes, Bulgaria » has fundamental differences with the party of Kiril Petkov and Assen Vassilev, which is why the only coalition to be developed is the one with DSB within « Democratic Bulgaria ».
« And this time, but for the last »: « We continue the change » and « Democratic Bulgaria » are looking for a solution for the coalition
Svilen Trifonov said it is impossible at the moment with GERB. According to him, future partners of the party must meet the criterion « parties that support the European future for Bulgaria ».
As unacceptable partners, Ivaylo Mirchev pointed to « Revival », « Greatness » and a sword because of their pro -Russian profile. According to him, « Yes, Bulgaria » does not work with both factions in the MRF. He also excluded collaborations with « There is such a people » with the argument that the formation « through Orlin Alexiev is currently Harizan in Peevski ». GERB is also eliminated from his accounts, which, in his words, is currently severely linked to « MRF – New Beginning ».
Boyko Borisov is no longer the leader of GERB. The leader is Peevski, who sucks his strength.
Bozhidar Bozhanov added that « Yes, Bulgaria » would prefer not to have to rule with anyone, but political realities show that a coalition is needed to have management of the country. « The political compromise is something that we and our followers must learn, » added Veselina Alexandrova.
Nadezhda Yordanova also supported this thesis and stated that such compromises could be made, but if the priorities and goals of Yes, Bulgaria were adopted. As the main goal, it has identified the fight against corruption.
Fighting the corruption and the rule of law
Former Justice Minister Nadezhda Yordanova said that the fight for justice cannot stop the Group of Yes, Bulgaria will continue to work with various legislative initiatives.
Veselina Alexandrova added that corruption is at all levels and therefore the fight for the rule of law should be conducted on all fronts. As a small battle that has acquired national importance, she pointed to the case around the Plovdiv Fair.
The transfer of Varna shares from the Plovdiv Fair to the company of Georgi Gergov is illegal, the court (renovated) decided
How right is « Yes, Bulgaria »
Elisaveta Belobladova said that at the moment « Yes, Bulgaria » is more right than its direct competitors in the face of GERB. According to her, the party of Boyko Borisov had a right election program, but nevertheless the formation voted not only a left budget, but also one that is harmful to the country.
Belobradova added that her party had proposed right -wing measures such as the reduction of the administration and the reduction of the administrative burden, but they were not accepted. |
With the suspended sale of the Belene NPP reactors, the BSP tried to hide that it did not shy away from Peevski’s support
Svilen Trifonov said that the state did not effectively absorb funds given for the green transition. He has declared himself to close the TPPs in the Marishka Basin and investment in green energy.
Between 3 and 4% of GDP should be allocated for investment in defense, Ivaylo Mirchev suggested. According to him, the country must decide whether to earn such an amount or to be forced to give 10% of GDP when « Putin decides to come here. » Mirchev is of the opinion that the state must do everything necessary to become a center for the production of weapons and ammunition.
Regulators are filled with incompetent and dependent people
Bozhidar Bozhanov said that the government is currently filling the regulators with incompetent and dependent people. He stated that one of the reasons for failure to fail is the refusal of « continuing the change – Democratic Bulgaria » to allow Delyan Peevski’s quota in the Supreme Judicial Council.
Elisaveta Belobradova added that the appointment of incompetent and dependent people in regulators violated the national security of the country. According to her, however, the only thing « Yes, Bulgaria » can do is offer experts who, however, do not receive the necessary support.
