The Latvian National Museum of Art will host an exhibition of Tukki Magi: Rhythm / Day

Exhibition Tukku Magi: Rhythm There is a festival of people’s experience in the universal art language. It shows how different styles, influence and cultural perspectives can combine to create a versatile picture that resonates with viewers at a deep, emotional level. The rhythm embodies the essence and beauty of artistic collaboration that occurs when different voices are involved in the conversation. It is not just music or dance movement, but it is also the rhythm of life, nature and relationships. The world is in the move, with a rhythmic dialogue between the local and global, personal and social, authentic and constructed, people and nature, the biased and diversity open.

Each exhibition artist offers his or her individual story with Africa, his unique rhythm concept. The exhibition features works from Tukku Magi African traditional art collections with which the conversation consists of contemporary artists Mufat Takadiva (Moffat Takadiwa, Zimbabwe), Dickens Otjeno (Dickens otieno, Kenya), Jānis Jacobsons (US / Latvia), Zoja Frolova (US / Latvia), Nick Brants (Nick Brandt, Britain), Fernando Anuanga (Fernando Anuang’a, Kenya) and a group of artists – James Muriuki (James Muriuki, Kenya), Olga Kisseleva (France), James Mveu (James MWEUKenya), Margaret Ngigi (Margaret Ngigi, Kenya).

The Tukki Magi project is dedicated to the promotion of unique multicultural dialogue between the north and south, as well as the traditions and modernity. Its being in northeastern Europe allows you to channel attention from the historically privileged « western » cities of the world to historical empire, continents and the crossroads of nations, creating space for reflection on the heritage of the past and the complex contemporary culture and political context. The Tukki Magi mission is to transform the paradigm of traditional art perception, including it as an equivalent partner in contemporary art discourse.

The Tukku Magi project starts in spontaneous conversation with American philanthropists and collectors Bobbi and Tim Hamili (Bobbi, Tim Hamill) From Boston, USA, which resulted in more than 500 African traditional art items.

In 2019, artists Zoja Frolova and Janis Jacobsons became co -founders and creative directors of Tukki Magi.
