It has also been decided this year to award two special awards – translator Nicholas Ozano for translating and promoting Latvian literature in the French cultural space, as well as former President, scientist Vaira Vike -Freiberga for monograph The Logic of Poetry. Structure and Poetics of the Latvian Songswhat has been issued Petergail.

The Readers’ Prize this year was set in cooperation with the Public Media Portal Lsm.lv Public vote lasting from April 2 to April 24. Dace Rukšāne won the vote for the novel Lu-Lou and Angelissued Star ABC.

All nominees winners received the Laligab Award and cash bonuses designed by Daniel Shatalov.

This year’s Laligab jury was a literary scholar, Philology Doctor, Professor Ausma Cimdiņa, Literary Critic and Researcher Anda Baklane, writer and literary critic Guntis Berelis, playwright and writer Rasa Bugavičute-Pēce, translator Ruth Karma, writer Katrīna Rudzīte.

Laligaba is the most important event of the year in the literature industry in Latvia. It ensures the professional evaluation of literary works and the acclaim for the authors of the most outstanding works of the year.
