The Latvian Hockey Team starts the World Championship with a victory over France / Day

In the third minute of the third period, after a shot by Kristaps Zile, the puck changed the direction of the flight and entered the goal – 2: 1. A few minutes later, Papryon made a mistake in one of the episodes and came far from his guarded gate, but the French did not allow the puck to come to the Latvians. In another episode of the attack, Dan Ločmelis failed to get a puck in front of Papijon’s goal.

At the end of the game, Papijon was replaced with a sixth player on the field and 84 seconds before the end signal, Ločmelis threw a puck in the empty goal. The French continued to play with six players on the field, throwing a puck again at the empty goal at the last minute.

Latvian hockey players will play the second game of the World Cup tomorrow at 5:20 pm against Canada. The tournament will continue with matches with Slovenia, housewife Sweden, Finnish national team, Slovakia and the final group game with Austria.

The 16 teams start in the tournament are divided into two groups, with eight teams each, which guarantees seven games for each team. The top four teams in each group will continue their battle for medals in the quarterfinals, but the weakest teams in both groups will leave the strongest division, and will be replaced by Britain and Italy next year.

Last year, the Czechs triumphed in the World Championships in their field, beating Switzerland by 2-0 in a crucial match, but Sweden won the bronze medals with a 4: 2 win over the Canadian national team. The Latvian national team ranked ninth, although he won four wins in the sub -group.

The World Championship in Herning and the Swedish capital, Stockholm, will end on May 25. Group B games and two quarter -final matches will take place in Herning, while Stockholm will also host two quarter -final duties, semi -final games and medals.
