The last pre -saving the installation
Digital and time -related media prevention in the arts will be one of the seminars held by Vasulka Foundation and Berg Contemporary tomorrow, Saturday, at 13 in the Nordic House.
The seminar bears the title Steina and Woody Vasulka – Preservation of inheritance: Prevention of time -related media in the context of the installation of Woody Vasulka, The Brotherhood.
The pioneering work and influential works of Steina and Woody Vasulka, along with the conservation of digital and time-related media will be shed, in the context of Woody’s key works, « The Brotherhood » (1990-1998), which is now shown in Berg Contemporary and is considered one of the artist’s headaches.
The seminar brings together respected professionals from the world of contemporary art and the custody of multimedia and share their knowledge and insight. The work of Steina and Woody Vasulka will be covered and will discuss their lasting impact on contemporary arts and technology, as well as the challenges and opportunities inherent in the preservation and interpretation of time -related works, with a special focus on the work The Brotherhood.
« In fact, it could be said that this was the last pre -saving the installation because those who came to the work and knew were either quit because of age or deceased, » says Ingibjörg Jónsdóttir, Director of Berg Contemporary about Vasulka’s artwork, but more discussed with it on the cultural pages of Morgunbladid.
Speakers are Patrícia Falcão, guardian of Tate’s time -related media, Joey Heinen, digital conservation manager from Lacma, Ingibjörg Jónsdóttir, Managing Director of Berg Contemporary, Christopher King, Deputy Director of Tate, ZKM, Halldór Björn Runólfsson, art historian and former Museum Director of the National Gallery of Iceland and Kristín Scheving, Museum Director of the Árnesinga Art Museum and Director of Vasulka Foundation. It is free and everyone is welcome.
