Taras Kremin’s State Language Commissioner declared signs of violation of national legislation on concert Verka Serduchka & Band, during which the artists performed some songs in Russian.
Because of this, the linguistic Ombudsman appealed to law enforcement. He told about it in a comment for « Ukrainian Truth. Life ».
The Commissioner explained that in the case of a concert of compositions in Russian – « gross violation » of Articles 23 and 29 of the Law « On Ensuring the Functioning of the Ukrainian Language as State », which regulate the sphere of culture and public events.
Taras Kremin added that since 2023, a moratorium on the use of a Russian -language musical product was officially operating in Kiev, which in the event of a concert of Verka Serdyuchka violated.
« While Ukrainian soldiers die on the front daily, holding back Russian occupiers, in the capital of Ukraine – the city of Kiev – at the concert publicly sounds » Everything is good « and other Russian -speaking songs.
It’s not just a disregard for language law. It is a spit in the country’s face in a state of war and to those who gave life for it, ” – says the linguistic Ombudsman.
Through the concert, the Commissioner initiated a state control event on the organizer of the event, and also appealed to the National Police to properly respond to violations of the legislation.
« We will not allow in the Ukrainian capital under the cover of » entertainment « again legalized the linguistic presence of the aggressor state. It is not just about the law-it is about national dignity.– said Taras Kremin.
We will remind, on June 13 in Kiev there was a concert Verka serduchka & band, during which sounded Russian-speaking songs, including « Ha-ra-Sha » and « Gaban’s Dolce ».
In the video of the attendees in the event, heard Andrey Danylko addressed hundreds of spectators in Russian. Because of this, the activists complained to the linguistic Ombudsman.
Verka Serdyuchka denied that the performer used Russian at the concert. They argue that the artist spoke « his local dialect – Poltava Surzhik », and added that during the event they also performed songs in Ukrainian and English.
Representatives of Andriy Danylko denied that at the concert the performer violated language legislation.
