« In this phase, there is an investigation and state supervision, which we cannot inform about, » points out the Slovak Environmental Inspectorate.

People in the area have a different problem, in some areas there is still an interrupted supply of electricity, so as not to endanger the intervening firefighters.

This is particularly the case for the entrepreneurs. They have already received information that the current would run out, but due to strong winds the shutdown still persists. The affected businesses that have interrupted operations count damage in thousands of euros.

« We have stopped production for two days and we don’t know when it will run, » says the company executive Delta Stone Roland Nagy.

The landfill violated the regulations

The firefill fire was announced on Wednesday night. Twenty -five meters high landfill came to extinguish professional firefighters from Galanta, Dunajská Streda, Trnava and Sereda, along with several volunteer fire brigades.

« It was reported by a random passing first, we arrived at the same time with professional firefighters around half past eleven, » says Mayor of Mostová Tibor Rózsár.

The mayor of Čierna Voda Zuzana Csadyová also came to the fire. « I secured them at least a snack. I was there by five in the morning, a hat down in front of them, » he says.

On Friday, the fire brigade informed that the fire is under control. Firefighters continue to dispose of it, weigh the soil and sprinkle outbreaks.

Air monitoring was ensured by the control chemical laboratory of civil protection.

« The police have not been reported to exceed the limit of hazardous substances in the air. Nevertheless, monitoring was also carried out on the spot in the presence of the investigator by unmanned airline, » the police presidium informs.

Inspectors of the Slovak Environmental Inspectorate came to the landfill on Friday. « It is not possible to carry out control activities during extinguishing, » the inspection says.

They verify the possible violations of the Water Act, the Act on Integrated Permissions and also address the possible extraordinary deterioration of water quality, they write in an opinion. Until the investigation is not completed, the inspection cannot publish further details.

Municipal waste is stored in the landfill, it operated from 1991 to 2024. It was repeatedly checked by the Environmental Inspectorate and gave it fines.

In 2024, the inspection found that they received additional waste for the landfill, although it was already banned. The operator was obliged to remove the amount of waste deposited above the allowed capacity from the landfill.

Last year’s inspection stated that the landfill exceeded the allowed height by eight meters.

Wedding with a generator

Near the landfill is a transformer station and next to the leadership of the high voltage, which the West Slovak distribution has turned off at the request of firefighters.

« There were a total of 118 customers without delivery, » informs the spokeswoman of the West Slovak distribution Michaela Dobošová.

They gradually deploy replacement sources to the area, with 44 offtake points without electricity on Friday at 5 pm.

The mayor of the neighboring village of Mostová, to which the cadastral area includes the affected area Šoriakoš, specifies that some properties will not be possible to involve even aggregates.

Restaurant Malé Csárda in Tomášikova had to be closed on Thursday, giving outages at thousands of euros. « I had to get a generator, we have a wedding and reported events in advance, » says Csárda Norbert Pudmerický.

Even higher losses, in tens of thousands, estimates Delta Stone Roland Nagy. « We are considering claiming damages from competent authorities, » he says.

The start of electricity for unfavorable extinguishing conditions has been pushed several times.

« According to firefighters, access to our facilities will be possible at the earliest in the morning of 12 April, until then it is premature to comment on the next procedure, » says Dobošová.
