The Kremlin about the elections from us: » The Romanians were deprived »
Kremlin commented on the result of the elections. The Romanians were deprived of the opportunity to vote for their favorite candidate for the Presidency, Kremlin spokesman Dmitri Peskov said on Monday.
Asked by TASS to comment on the results of the first tour of the presidential elections in Romania, in a briefing, Peskov said that « one of the favorites of these elections was arbitrarily removed from the electoral race. » « In any case, the Romanian voters were deprived of the right to vote for the person they wanted-this can be stated unequivocally, » said the Kremlin spokesman.
He referred to Călin Georgescu, who won the first round of last year’s election, before he was forbidden to run for an alleged Russian interference in his favor.
The candidate of the Alliance for the Union of Romanians (Gold), George Simion won the first tour of the Sunday presidential elections with over 40% of the votes. He will face in the second round of May 18 with the independent candidate Nicușor Dan, ranked on the Dopilea, with over 20% of the votes.
Asked if it can be considered that Europe was tired of the candidates imposed by Eurobirocration, Peskov replied: « It is not our job, but of the Romanians. »
