The Kokhtla-Yarve City Board made a decision to allow the organization of educational work in Russian during the April meeting in 2025/2026 in the 3rd and from the 6th to the 9th grades of Tammikuska and the Akhtmes of the main schools, which will join the Malevskaya main school from September 1 of this year, BNS reports. Also, the partial use of the Russian language as the language of learning in the next academic year is permitted in the Kesklinna and Slavic main schools of the city of Kokhtla-Yarve.
According to the chairman of the City City Board of Kokhtla-Yarve Eduard Odz, one of the priority tasks when moving to the Estonian language is to ensure the smoothness of the process and flexibility of conditions.
“The changes associated with this transition have been held since the summer of last year and have been taking place in stages. The transition process is positively affected by linguistic immersion, which occurs in different classes in different volumes, and various teaching methods and an individual approach are used, ”Odinets noted.
According to him, to ensure the smooth process of the transition, the City Management amounted to several plans of action and a monitoring plan.
