The journey to the United States « not the risk worth »
Game designer Steingerður Lóa Gunnarsdóttir decided to cancel her trip to the United States when the Foreign Ministry issued a regulation that Trans people do not receive a visa.
The regulation states that if there is a discrepancy in gender at birth and gender on the passport, it may be prevented, and even give the relevant lifetime ban.
The plan was to fly to San Francisco on Friday and attend GDC (Game Developer Conference), a conference that Steingerður has attended eight times and is important to her work.
She works as an independent game designer and has formed important relationships at the conference in recent years. She also works and takes care of a boarding corner for all conference guests, for the SU & SD table play media.
Ordinary people in the United States are nice and good
Steingerður took a master's degree in game design in the United States and stayed in New York for two years. She was going to the United States despite everything that is going on, but she says ordinary people in the United States are still nice and good, especially in New York and California.
When asked, she says it is miserable to be denied access to an environment from which she loves and friends, it has taken some time to realize it and recover from it. However, she says she was pleased to have made the decision not to leave.
« It is quite clear that I could have gone and nothing had come up, but just not the risk. »
She says it is a Russian roulette about the border on the border to go to the United States today. Therefore, she spent last week changing flights, books, accommodation and finding someone else to take over with short notice.
This is the first time in her process that she has experienced that her rights are violated. She did not think she needed to add the United States to the list of countries she could not travel to.

Great understanding in the team
When asked, the Steingerður conference has expanded its networks in recent years, so it will be down to employment opportunities not to get out.
She has had a fit and hotel room in recent years instead of managing a group of volunteers who take care of the boarding corner at the conference.
« This is a 30,000 -person conference. So I had to find someone to take on my role there. «
She received a lot of support from the SU&Sdfor which she usually works. There is a trans person in the team and a great understanding shown the position of fossil.
« I decided to go to a festival in Berlin in May instead, » says Steingerður.
Teaches game design in HR
Steingerður has worked as a game designer for ten years.
She teaches game design in RU and has released three games herself, two on the phone and one on Nintendo Switch. Triple Agent and Out in the field are phone games and Sumer is for Nintendo Switch.
Steingerður says worse things are happening, freedom and life are at stake out of regulations, but it has been appropriate to share both the information on the regulation and her life experience.
« There is so much going on there from the west, but you hear so little direct consequences about how it affects the people around you, » she writes on Facebook.
