The Italian ambassador appreciates the key role of the SAI in European integration and warns of further cooperation

Italy’s Ambassador to Albania, Marco Alberti, together with the senior leader of Guardia di Finanza, Giampiero Carrieri, held today a meeting with the head of the State Supreme Audit (SAI), Arben Shehu. The ambassador expressed his high appreciation for the work carried out by the SAI in the field of financial control of state institutions. He stressed that cooperation between Albanian and Italian institutions will be intensified soon.

Addressing President Shehu, the ambassador described the role of the SAI as fundamental in the process of European integration of Albania. « You, Mr. Chairman, occupy a delicate place in the state structure and architecture, above all in the dimension of Albania’s accession to the European Union, where transparency, regularity, accuracy, accountability and public account system play an essential role, »-Albert said.

The head of the SAI, Arben Shehu thanked Ambassador Albert for the visit and the appreciation. He underlined the great importance of cooperation between the two countries in the financial investigation sector of public institutions, considering it essential for strengthening good governance and rule of law in Albania. The ambassador has confirmed the start of cooperation within several months, between the SAI and the important academic institutions of the financial investigation.

This meeting marks an important step in strengthening bilateral relations and cooperation in the field of financial control, a key aspect of Albania’s journey to the European Union.
