The International Conference entitled « Nurturing Global Citizens for a World on the Move » was successfully completed with great success
The International Conference with Title was successfully completed “Nurturing Global Citizens for a World on the Move” (Training worldwide active citizens in a world evolving), which took place in 17-18 May 2025 in Piraeus. The conference was organized by the Directorate of Culture of the Municipality of Piraeus and INTERSENTS: Global Educational Research & Action Network for a World on the Movein cooperation with the Postgraduate Program « Identity, Education and Skills for Democratic Culture » of Chief and European Wergland Center.
Renowned international researchers and central speakers such as Veronica Boix-Mansilla (Project Zero, Harvard University), the Angela Salmon (Fulbright Global Scholar, International University of Florida) and Urszula Markowska-Manista (University of Warsaw), presented modern educational approaches and innovative teaching strategies. The content of the presentations focused on the active citizenship, education for sustainable development, global abilities and rights of the child, offering rich material for reflection and action.
Important experience for participants were the « Live Libraries » sessionsin which authentic and moving stories of people who have positively influenced their social or natural environment were presented. A special moment of the conference was the Interactive tour at the « Global Children » International Exhibitionwhich presented student voices from Greece, Colombia, the United States and Poland, as part of Angela Salmon’s initiative as Fulbright Global Scholar.
Her Friday 16 May 2025took place at Piraeus Municipal Gallery Closed pre -conference workshop organized by the Piraeus Municipality Culture Directorate, with the aim of investigating partnerships in education for active citizenship. Among other things, among others:

The conference welcomed Mayor of Piraeus, Mr. Yiannis Moraliswhile speaking participated by President of the Institute of Educational Policy, Mr. Spyridon Doukakis.
