The internal vacation will be only on Friday or Monday only
The internal vacation in schools will no longer be in the middle of the week. It will be either Friday or Monday, it is understood by a draft amendments to Ordinance 10 on the organization of activities in school education of the Ministry of Education and Science.
The proposed text reads: « For each academic year, the duration of the first academic term depends on the internal vacation so that the vacation coincides with the beginning or end of the working week. »
In his motives, the Minister of Education Krasimir Valchev explains:
« In a number of academic years, an internal vacation is set a day in the middle of the working week.
Thousands of teachers and staff leave the education system
In order to become possible, the Minister also proposes a change that determines the duration of the first academic period. The current text of the ordinance fixes it in 18 school weeks, and for sports schools – 20. The change is to make the period « between 17 and 18 weeks, and in sports schools – between 19 and 20 weeks ».
This year, the internal vacation was on February 5, Thursday.
In order to enter into force, the draft regulation must first be adopted by the Council of Ministers and then promulgated in the State Gazette. Her vote by the government will happen after a one -month public consultation, which will continue until June 13.
The new school year: longer vacations, after 7th grade exams will be on school days
The deadlines allow the change in the vacation schedule to be made for the next 2025/2026 school year. This would not be possible if the texts were amended after the start of the school year, because the regulations require the determination of the rules by which students teach, to be done before September 15.
