The Institute for Nature Protection of Serbia is 77 years old – was founded on 30. April 1948. years, when the institution is dedicated to the preservation of our country’s natural values ​​first began work.

In cooperation with the Ministry of Environmental Protection and PUC « Zelenilo-Belgrade », this year’s birthday, the Institute will celebrate in the joint action of cleaning bajford forest, which is scheduled for Wednesday, April 30 at 12 p.m. The place of gathering is the building « Greenery Belgrade » across from the sports center « Banjica », transmits Energy portal.

Bahford’s forest, although artificially raised in the urban conditions of Belgrade, today is an important natural environment. In its composition, it preserves the remains of natural climatogenic and orococletogenic mixed deciduous forests characteristic of the central and Eastern Balkans. After cutting the indigenous forest, the space was used for agriculture, and since 1948. until 1950. Voluntary actions were launched, which created the basis of today’s forest. Today, bajfor’s forest is protected as a natural monument with a third-degree protection regime.

Marking of the Institute’s Day is not only a reminder of a rich tradition for more than seven decades, but also a call to citizens for joint responsibility in the preservation of nature of Serbia. At the time when environmental challenges are growing, the Institute remains a key bearer of institutional protection of nature, dedicated to preserving natural values ​​for the current and future generations.

In recent years, the Institute for Nature Protection of Serbia has achieved significant results that confirm his key role in preserving the natural resources of our country. Thanks to the dedicated work of experts, the area of ​​protected natural areas in Serbia increased to more than 10 percent of the total territory. In parallel, the legislative and institutional framework for nature protection has been improved, thus created better conditions for efficient monitoring and conservation of biodiversity. The Institute also invested efforts to strengthen citizens’ awareness of the importance of preserving natural heritage, through various educational programs and promotional activities.

Establishing the establishment of the ecological network of the Republic of Serbia, as well as the development of mobile application « Terenska », intended for collecting data from the field. In addition, the tradition of publishing red books, monographs and various educational materials, specially adapted to the youngest, continued, continued, which further contributes to raising environmental literacy in society.

As stated in the statement of the Office, the plan is to until 2027. As many as 13 percent of Serbia’s territory be under formal protection, and a total of 30 percent involved in the ecological network.
