The center in Bristol in one facility combines 3D recording and printing

Cyclist who suffered severe facial injuries as he knocked him down the driver in an alcoholized state, is one of the first patients who benefited from the National Health Service Part Body Print Center.

Bristol 3D Medical Center covers the entire southwest of England, and it is believed to be the first in the UK in one space and allows 3D recording and printing.

At the same time, it provides scientific and technical support with trauma patients through the most modern digital technology and specialist reconstructive expertise.

Bicyclist Dave Richards felt the magic of the center that helped him « feel much more comfortable » in his own skin, said Briton after the accident.

In July 2021, Richards rode a bicycle in the village of Peace, in the Samerset district in the southwest of England, with two friends when a drunk driver hit them.

« She approached us from behind, and he talked on the phone.

« He hit the two of my friends who gained multiple fractures, » said seventy-five-year-old from Devon.

« I, unfortunately, stayed trapped under the vehicle, so I sustained severe burns on body and face, as well as injuries from the tingling of the ribs on the right. »

After multiple reconstructive operations in the hospital in Bristol and numerous rehabilitation, Dave began to return life to normal.

It continues to visit the 3D Medical Center in Bristol where his face prosthesis recently was done.

Great orbital prosthesis and splints for scars on the neck are made thanks to the technology of this center.

Richards are also available to 3D scan for digital recording faces and developing its replica, and then designing mold for these dentures.

« In most cases, people do not notice that, or don’t say anything, or they accept me like this.

« I had to live with this four years. Most of this is in my head, » Dave told BBC.

« If I just want to hang out, I feel much more comfortable in my own skin, when I look in the mirror and look reasonable. »

Bristol 3D Medical Center is open in April.

The center combines a new scientific and technological service in one space and is one of the first hospitals of the National Health Service (NHS) received by PEEK printer that makes objects to temperatures up to 200 degrees Celsius.

The scanner can digitally to map an individual’s body while sitting in a specially designed planning room that is sophisticated enough to scan babies in motion.

In the center, among other things, it also applies a 3D model of damaged kidney that displays not only an area to be removed, but also berve and blood vessels to be avoided.

It is believed to be the first in the UK that allows all this in one space.

Most of the equipment was funded by the Hospital Sautmid, the official charity of the NHS Fund of the North Bristol.
