The Unghenean public had a meeting with the journalist, writer, publicist, dramaturg and political analyst, Val Butnaru. The activity was organized in partnership with the National Library of the Republic of Moldova and the Romanian Philology Institute « Bogdan Petriceicu-Hasdeu » of the USM, within the campaign « The writer at him Home », part of the National Lectura Central Program, the 8th edition (2025), as well as on the occasion of the national program «
The meeting started with an artistic program presented by the Collective of the Ungheni Music School, which harmonized the atmosphere of the event.

With a discourse focused on the cultural-literary event within the Central Lecture National Program, Vera Osoianu, Deputy Director of the National Library RM, came. « Writers are also readers, they read more than they write. Based on the theme of the event « What we read, how we write », the protagonist Val Butnaru explained to the public how important reading is and how we should differentiate a quality reading. « I want to refer to the eternal question » What we read, how we write « , the answers are multiple to this question. By simplifying things, we can conclude as follows: reading the man is civilized and not only he is civilized, but all of us will save mankind of barbarism. «
The writer Val Butnaru, who has an active literary creation, came with examples on his literary works, mentioning what are the processes of creating a quality literary work.
About what we read and how we write, but especially how we express ourselves, Valentina Butnaru, the president of the « Our Romanian Language » Society spoke. « Indeed, reading is salvation, because as we cultivate our taste for reading, so we must cultivate musical hearing, to speak correctly, to retain a phrase, to communicate with those around. »
Present at the event, the students from the educational institutions of Ungheni, did not hesitate to ask various questions to the guest. Each of them received a book with the autograph of the writer Val Butnaru.
