The herpes vaccine helps prevent dementia

A British pharmaceutical company says it has launched a study involving more than a million older adults in the United Kingdom to investigate whether the best -selling herpes Zoster Zoster vaccine reduces the risk of dementia.
The British drug maker collects health data from about 1.4 million people aged 65 to 66, some of whom received the Shingrix vaccine, and some did not. Scientific Research Director Tony Wood has confirmed that data from the Great Database of the British State National Health Service is the only set of useful information. When the National Vaccination Program against Herpes Zoster was expanded in 2023, people aged 65 and older became qualified for vaccination, while before 2023, only people aged 70 and older were eligible. A new study conducted by the GSK in partnership with the Dementia Research Institute in the United Kingdom and the Health Data Analysis Agency in the United Kingdom should provide a more detailed insight into the problem of dementia.
If the efficacy of the Shingrix vaccine is confirmed in the treatment of dementia, the GSK could negotiate with British regulators to obtain permission to use the drug in the fight against this severe neurological disorder. More than 55 million people around the world have been suffering from dementia, and for decades the field of research on Alzheimer’s disease has been marked by failure. However, several clinical trials for a group of drugs against Alzheimer’s disease that could eventually result in the introduction of revolutionary therapies.
