The head of euthanasia organization commits suicide
The president of the controversial Swiss euthanasia organization The Last Resort, Florian Willet, committed suicide. This was said by the co -founder of his organization and his lawyer. The Schaffhausen public prosecutor’s office confirmed death.
She determined against Willet (47) and others because of « suffering and aid to suicide ». The German resident of Switzerland was involved in the first suicide with the new device Sarco in a forest near Schaffhausen and was then taken into custody.
« There must be no suicide culture »
The organization wrote on its website that Willet on May 5th in Germany committed suicide. He was traumatized by the accusations and the pre -trial detention. He was released from custody in December after around 70 days. According to the public prosecutor, the investigation against other accused persons continues.
Suicide aid is allowed in Switzerland if helpers have no selfish motifs. There are several suicide help organizations. The Swiss authorities consider the device Sarco as non -legally compliant. It is a capsule in which a person can lie in who activates a nitrogen input by pressing the button and then suffocates.
The authorities had warned the makers of Sarco about the mission. The first user was a 64-year-old American. The administrative report of the legal medicine of the canton of Zurich is now available, the public prosecutor said. It did not provide any information on the status of the investigation.
