The head coach of the Russian national team Valery Karpin will head the Moscow Dynamo
Valery Karpin, who left Rostov in February, will again combine work in the national team with work in the club in the near future. This club is the Moscow Dynamo, last season, which almost took the gold of the Russian championship with Mardel Lichka, and in the end of the newly ended season, who dismissed it and the remaining without medals.
The fact that Valery Karpin, who, since 2021, training the Russian team, in the near future, will most likely be headed by the Moscow Dynamo, became clear from the statements made after the end of the Russian Cup final in Luzhniki (about how CSKA beat Rostov in it, See material) President of the Russian Football Union (RFU) Alexander Dyukov. Commenting on the plans of Mr. Karpin, Mr. Dyukov emphasized that he “repeatedly” said that for the RFU “preferable” when “the coach works in the national team”. At the same time, he noted that “one club” nevertheless “received a permit for negotiations” with Valery Karpin.
“We had an agreement that if the team does not play in official tournaments, then a combination option is possible. If the club has reached agreements, we will not object to combination, but again before returning to official tournaments, ”said Alexander Dyukov.
What kind of club are we talking about, of course. Even in May, a number of sources, such as Championat.com and Sport-Express, reported the interest in Valery Karpin from the Dynamo Moscow, as well as that Mr. Karpin had already managed to present his administration of the team’s composition. Her former mentor was Czech Marcul Lichka. Last season, Dynamo with him almost won the first gold of the Russian championship in their history. They were the leader in front of the final tour, but, having lost the Krasnodar in it, fell into the third position, and the title went to Zenit. The season just ended for Dynamo less successful, and Mr. Persons failed to stay at his post until his finish. He was fired on May 1, three weeks before the end of the championship, in which the club was left without medals, collapsing to the fifth position. In the final rounds, in the status of the acting head coach, they were led by Rolan Gusev.
In fact, the combination of posts is the usual practice for Valery Karpin. Since 2017, he was the Rostov coach, and in the summer of 2021 he was invited to the Russian team, who had just failed at the European Championship under the leadership of Stanislav Cherchesov. Moreover, for some time he hoped to combine activity in it with club. However, after the Rostovites lost Dynamo and Zenit in the starting meetings of the next season, Valery Karpin broke up with Rostov. In the club, after that, even by Russian standards, the coaching Czechard arose. The club trained several specialists who did not achieve any success. The Czechard was cut off by sanctions that fell on Russian football in March 2022, along with the beginning of a special military operation in Ukraine and threw the national team from international tournaments. The RFU allowed Valery Karpin again to turn into a part -time, and Rostov was happy to return it and the next year almost took the championship medal, lagging behind the third place of Spartak only one point.
True, he did not have more such ups. In the current championship, Rostovites took eighth place, and not Valery Karpin, but his Spanish assistant Jonathan Alba, brought them to the Russian Cup final. Mr. Karpin unexpectedly left Rostov in February, before the resumption of the championship after a winter pause.
As a liberated trainer of the national team, he managed to work hard in her two friendly matches, which during the isolation period turned out to be the only platform available to her for performances.
In March, Russians with the same score of 5: 0 defeated opponents from Grenada and Zambia. Before the likely appearance in Dynamo, Valery Karpin is waiting for the June collection of the national team. Within its framework, two meetings will take place with much stronger rivals than Grenadians and Zambians. On June 6, she will play with the Nigeria team, and the 10th-Belarus.
At the same time, it is not worth counting on the early return of the Russian team to official tournaments. The nearest top competition – the World Cup, which in the summer of 2026 will be accepted by the USA, Canada and Mexico – it will at least miss exactly. And the International Football Federation (FIFA) and the Union of European Football Associations (UEFA), sometimes declaring the desire for the “reintegration” of Russians, the issue of it has not yet been considered.
