The groundworld in Sofia will not move tomorrow, but it will be a school day

The groundworld in Sofia will not move tomorrow, but it will be a school day

« The ground public transport in Sofia will not be moving tomorrow, » Vice President of CITUB Todor Kapitanov announced shortly before 8 pm before 8pm. This was decided by the protesters in all places today with blockades – garages and landfills of buses, trolleybuses and trams. Meanwhile, the metropolitan municipality announced that there was no reason to be declared a non -teaching day tomorrow, because there was no notification of protest of the employees in the terrestrial urban transport in the mayoralty.

Kapitanov added that the protesters do not accept today’s proposal of Mayor Vasil Terziev in salaries only for the employees of the Sofia Electric Transport and Motor Transport, but not for the people in Metropolitan. Today, terrestrial public transport should not be between 4 and 12 hours, but 15 hours later buses, trams and trolls did not leave the blocked garages and landfills.

Kapitanov commented that it was already a civil disobedience and people self -organize. « At the moment it is not known whether, when and how the ground public transport will go, » Kapitanov said. He specified that if Terziev really offered tomorrow, what he announced today, the transport would not leave.

« People are thirsty, hungry and sleepy. If one thinks the tension is going to decline, they have not known. We are waiting for a reaction, someone will lend a hand, » Kapitanov commented today shortly after 5pm. He added that the employees working in the city’s public transport are not afraid to stay for over 12 hours because they do this daily by doing overtime on legal rules.

The protest of employees in Sofia Urban Transport is extended by more hours

The unionist said that the beginning of the day, people hoped someone would initiate a meeting in which to negotiate and discuss proposals, but were « under the institutions. » The Ministry of Finance transferred us to the Sofia Municipality, and they again return us to the ministry, « Kapitanov added.

Mayor: The protest was not by rules

« My day started with a visit to the Malashevtsi garage, I talked to people for two hours, but I want a dialogue, with both sides offering something to get closer to a result. I do not want these conversations to be paid by all Sofia citizens, » replied Sofia Mayor Vasil Terziev in an interview with you as a dialogue.

According to him, the protest was unacceptable. « Everyone has the right to protest, but by the rules. Protest means gathering some people and saying what they want without preventing other people from doing their job. This is an elegant form that everyone gets your money for the day, even though they have not worked, because if they are on strike, they don’t have to pay.

He also offered a scheme to increase the starting salaries of young drivers who are just starting work. However, there was no option for everyone to increase by 400 levs. Protesters announced that they were accepting Vasilev Terziev’s invitation as a meeting tomorrow, with his proposals to be discussed.

Meeting will be tomorrow at 2pm

« We will announce outstanding days as long as I need to. How to solve a problem that has no resources.

Later, Terziev announced to journalists that the meeting would be tomorrow at 2 pm. According to him, the decision he offers should satisfy the employees of electric transport and bus transport. It is a $ 100 increase in the salaries of all, plus a double increase in the bonus. Thus, a total of BGN 400 was increased in income, such as the request of the protesters.

Nearly 9,000 people more have traveled by subway

Only the subway was moving today. Metropolitan said that the situation in it was calm, with a total of 271 622 passengers using the subway until 3 pm today, the Sofia Municipality said.

Compared to yesterday, they are 8908 more, and compared to April 9, with 11,542 passengers more. At the hour of peak today – 8:00 – 9:00 am, the passengers in the subway were 50 760 people, and yesterday – by 1376 more, which is probably due to the fact that the day was learned.

In the interval between 1pm and 2pm there were 29 471 people, which was 2247 people more than yesterday.

Metropolitan provided an additional six trains due to the protest, reducing trains on all lines.

Boris Bonev: The transport blockade is a twist of hands

In a comment on Facebook on the strike, Save Sofia leader Boris Bonev wrote that the demands of the unions for widespread salaries by BGN 1500 for the next three years are extreme and unfulfilled. « That’s why the transport blockade today is a bending of the hands of the citizens of Sofia, » he adds. According to Bonev, salaries in the sector have increased dramatically over the last five years and this cannot continue endlessly.

Save Sofia suggests that the available funds be invested in a differentiated increase only for the wages only for the shortage professions – drivers and service workers; in new vehicles; in the repair of landfills and routes and construction of bathrooms at the end stops; in the separation of public transport corridors and more.
