With prominent support from the Federal Party, the Viennese Greens started the intensive phase of the Viennese election campaign. The motto: « More courage for Vienna. »
When Judith Pühringer appears, there is thunderous applause. It is applause that is rare even with the Viennese Greens. At first, the top candidate for the Vienna election seems somewhat surprised by the enormous sympathy of his own party. But Pühringer smiles and goes to the stage in Marx Palast, which offers up to 300 people.
It is Tuesday evening, and the Viennese Greens gathered in the third district to start the hot phase of the election campaign as the penultimate party – according to SPÖ, ÖVP and NEOS. « We are celebrating our official campaign in the campaign today, » says party leader Peter Kraus into the crowd that gathered in front of the stage.
Werner Kogler makes mood
On this day, the role of “Wersteizer” for Pühringer takes over the federal spokesman Werner Kogler: “Vienna still lives from the Greens’ participation in the Greens,” he explains in his speech-and mentions the 365-euro annual card, the redesign of Mariahilferstrasse and other projects that the Greens have implemented in ten years of coalition with the Vienna SPÖ. Afterwards, Kogler shoots himself on the Pink coalition partner of the SPÖ: « You have to look for a long time to realize that the NEOS rule in Vienna. » Nache: « Education in Vienna is a construction site that has now been exported to the federal government, » Kogler criticizes the pink education minister Christoph Return, who was previously education in Vienna. And: « The NEOS are on the false side of the economic policy. » The Greens, on the other hand, are ecological and social.
The green ex-minister Leonore Gewessler and Alma Zadić also came. Pühringer’s co-party leader, Peter Kraus, leads through the evening. And that addresses a green campaign topic: « As a minister, you canceled the Lobau motorway, » explains Kraus in the direction of Gewessler. « You have canceled a great environmental and climate disorder. » Now the old project is being taken out of the moth box. « How can you stop it? » Asks the party leader of the Viennese Greens: « Vienna has the choice », replies Gewessler: « Either back into the past, or we make bold decisions. » « Courage » is the word that runs through all speeches during the green campaign. It is also the motto of the green election campaign against « concrete fantasies ».

Pühringer steps on the lectern: « Nice to see you with so much courage and commitment. Because Vienna is brave most beautiful. » Your speech becomes a billing at five years of red-pink: « There wasn’t much to see of courage, » explains Pühringer. There is nothing going on in the affordable living in Vienna, you need a vacancy tax so that more apartments would be rented out: « Finally give us the vacancy tax, » thunder from the podium towards the city government.
Nothing else went in with climate protection in Vienna, « and the NEOS in Vienna left us a pile of broken glass, » Pühringer rumbles: « We want to bring climate justice, ecology and economic reason together. » The green base is enthusiastic, there is again frenetic applause for Pühringer and election posters are held up. A green official is satisfied: « We are ready! »
