The green clubs in Ungheni – Ecology lessons for a clean and healthy future – the angle – see the world as it is!
In Ungheni, ecological education becomes a way of life, not just hours at school or kindergarten. Through the international project « Intelligent and innovative solutions for the green and clean rural areas of the Black Sea basin », funded by the European Union, 11 green clubs were created that became civic involvement and responsibility towards the environment.
In these clubs, it activates over 230 students from the primary and secondary school, coordinated by 11 dedicated and supported teachers. The activities carried out in schools and in the community reflect a profound commitment to promote recycling, selective collection, composting, planting of trees and creative reuse of materials.
On the World Recycling Day – actions with impact in schools and on the street
On March 18, the students from the Green Club from the « Gh. Asachi » High School, coordinated by Professor Nina Scutaru, went out with ecological messages, leaflets and butterflies. They discussed with the passers -by, they organized debates and informative sessions. In parallel, at LT « I. Creangă » and LT « A. Pushkin », the green clubs carried out educational hours and interactive workshops dedicated to environmental protection.
In the rural localities, the Green Club from Costuleni Gymnasium (prof. Tatiana Butnaru) inaugurated the « green corner in my school », launched an ecological informative point, collected waste and involved the community in sanitation actions. At the Gymnasium, the students gave life to the old objects in a creative recycling workshop, and the people from Zagarancea informed the villagers about the benefits of selective collection. At the Valea Mare Gymnasium, the students reused recyclable materials to create useful and decorative objects.
Campaigns, workshops, exhibitions and plantations – Ecology by action
During March – May, the clubs initiated information campaigns, exhibitions of objects made of recyclable materials, thematic hours dedicated to the day of the Earth, sports competitions and actions related to climate change. In Costuleni and Seni, hundreds of students and teachers participated in sanitation and planting activities, in the spirit of a more durable future.
The International Compost Awareness Week (May 4-10) has brought new practical activities. The students LT « M. Eminescu » participated in a trip to Ave Ungheni to better understand how the waste is collected and sorted. Other clubs, such as those from « Gh. Asachi », « I. Creangă » and the district center of children’s creation, planted flowers and trees using compost, and the primary school « S. Vangheli » created an educational video for children about composting.
Movement of green clubs – a common voice for nature
Beyond the separate activities, the green clubs joined in a local movement with common visions: education, responsibility and action for a healthy environment. Their involvement not only has transformed schools into greener spaces, but managed to mobilize the entire community – teachers, parents, authorities and citizens – around a common cause: environmental protection.
This movement is a model of good practice for other localities and an example that big changes start with small but firm steps. With the energy of the children and the vision of the teachers, the Ungheni takes an important step towards a cleaner future.
We mention that the movement of green clubs is an activity provided within the project « Intelligent and innovative solutions for the green and clean rural areas of the Black/ Smart4rural Sea basin », funded by the European Union through the Interreg Next The Black Sea Basin, partners from the Republic of Moldova – the City Hall of Ungheni and the Regional Center for Sustainable Development.
