« The grapple, a machine imagined for you to lose » – Liberation
“We called on Cogumeli an illustrator who is also a tattoo artist. I am very touched by his work and during the creation of the album, I watched a lot of her drawings. It shows its artistic process on Instagram. It is not only digitally done at the tablet: at the end, it achieves a physical object. We recorded a brighter disc, returning to our grunge roots and I found that its style that is both very soft but also very violent could correspond to our music. As I am a bit of our graphic manager, I had even paint our previous pocket. I showed what she was doing to the group and they loved it. We contacted her and she immediately accepted, yet she did not know Pogo at all because Crash Control. What I found very interesting. ”
« She listened to the models and we sent her texts then we made a work meeting where she had noted themes that we tackle in the album: social discomfort, disillusionment … From that, she made us proposals for sketches. We were unanimous in choosing this one. This game with a grapple, a bit of a machine imagined for you to lose, the knife which is the group’s logo, we found that it really echoes our music. She therefore made this pocket with colored pencils, microns, very fine markers to design the hair. It’s a very meticulous job, she spent hours on it. ”
“I was immediately captivated by the gaze of this girl. I also congratulated Cogumeli on this subject. She looks fascinated and at the same time frightened. But it also looks like she loves this feeling of danger. It can refer to our own demons. I think it’s really the facial expression that satisfies me the most. As soon as we see it, it immediately gives off something very strong. Small details like the bars or the sparadrap bring an innocent side but I find that it is not Kawaii. We liked the idea of the grapple so much that it was an inspiration for our show. There is a giant grapple now above our drummer. ”
