« The grant lies in the social work »

Diljá Mist Einarsdóttir, candidate for vice -chairman of the Independence Party, urged the party's renewal and clearer the progress of the independence policy in his candidacy speech at a national meeting.

The party would have to respond to the challenge of historically low election and low parliamentary strength.

Lost relationships with voters

Diljá acknowledged that seven years of cooperation with « restraint » in government has damaged the party with too much mediation and removed it from its basic policy. However, she warned that the solution was only in the lead and thanked the outgoing leadership for sacrificing work.

She said the party has lost relationships with voters, such as small business owners and the middle class, but did not consider it to be an explanation.

« The Independence Party is a mass movement, but we have lost sight of the basics, » she said.

With his candidacy, Diljá promised a « ideological update » in which the essence of independence policy – respect for individual freedom and minimum government intervention – would be kept in high.

She vowed, therefore, to fight against government and restraint, proclaim real cuts in government and reduce public operating costs.

« The public sector must not lead wage developments – welfare is determined by the value creation of the business sector, » she said, encouraging a clear policy and fearless progress.

The city was destroyed by « overseas people »

Diljá directed her spears at the left -wing government in Reykjavik and promised efforts in municipal elections 2026, especially in the capital, which she said was destroyed by « oversight ». She promised changes immediately on the first day and said politicians should serve people, not rule over it.

« The return of the party begins in this election, » she stated.

The speech was personal when Diljá recalled her relationship with the party, which supported her when her sister died in 2007, and described Valhöll as a community full of life and inspiration in the past. She said she wanted to revive that spirit with a strong party, independent state grants, which she said paralyzed with people and businesses.

« The grant lies in the social work, » she said, promising a conversation with the grass roots to promote the job.

The world of « bullshit » completed

With reference to his experience as a 37 -year -old lawyer, local government representative, MP and private employee, Diljá said the « bullshit » ended and reality returned – a forum where the Independence Party is at home.

She asked for support to make the party « the only real option » for Icelanders, with the freedom of the individual as a guiding light, and expressed faith in the future of the party if everyone contributed.
