Želiezovce. The descendants of the princess arrived from Uruguay to southern Slovakia. Their father was born Eleonore Ernestine von Auerspeg in Želiezovce more than a hundred years ago.

Rudolf and Pavel Wallner watched the mansion and the Municipal Museum. What they were interested in were their ancestors and relatives. They got to know many in old photos.

They entered the commemorative book. A year before one of the pages were filled by their distant relatives: descendants of several lines of the noble family of the Esterházy family. They arrived in the city in Dolny Pohronie from different parts of the world.

Their grandmother was a princess

« He said that his grandmother was Princess Eleonore Ernestine von Auerspeg and grandfather in the monarchy well -known imperial corporate captain Wallner, who was a high officer of the imperial army, » explains Pavel Polka an unexpected visit. It leads the city museum and focuses on documenting the history of the region.

He just mowed around the museum when one of the three spoke to him in English. It turned out to be Rudolf Wallner.

« I was surprised when they asked me, » he says about Thursday (16.4.).

The story of the couple that the guests were interested in is also known to the local historian thanks to the uneven marriage. At that time it was exceptional that he married the daughter of Princess Auerspeg: « They did not take the Count. »

He was born here over a hundred years ago

The young couple after the marriage used to be in Želiezovce for some time.

The Esterházy family was doing business in the field of agriculture. She built a manor, owl castle and mansion, to which she left Vienna especially in the summer. She founded a large English park in the area.

« The last Želiezov Count Ernestine Coudenhove has been a widow and childless since 1915. She called her relatives and their children to come to the Želiezovce.

They were not in the mansion with the count, but in the building next to. Previously there lived a well -known confectioner Sacher with his family who cooked the count.

« It was in Želiezovce that his husband, 19 October 1921, was born son Rudolf Wallner. He later married Mary, Count Hoyos, » unraveling the family tree, which is followed by the names of Rudolf and Paul, who visited Želiezovce.

Rudolf Jr., full name Rudolf Franz Ernst Cuno Gobertin Wallner – Hoyos younger, was born in 1954.

In places of ancestors

Brothers Rudolf and Pavel and his wife arrived from South America to Europe. To be done during vacations they jumped from Vienna to Želiezovce.

« They first looked at the mansion, then came to me to the museum. They asked about their ancestors, wondered the past, took pictures of, filmed, admired magnolia in front of the museum. I think they were surprised. Exhibits, documents and period photographs. When they watched them, they recognized many of their relatives.

Želiezovce in the world know

An unexpected visit was entered in the Museum’s Memorial Book. Last September on one of the sites, there were also signatures of several Esteházy family, who then arrived to Slovakia from Chicago, Vienna, Salzburg, Strasbourg and Passau to commemorate the anniversary of the death of their four ancestors. They died in a battle against the Turks in Veľké Vozokany.

« They behaved like ordinary people, yet they were dressed. It is said that the dress is important, but more importantly, people are in their hearts and in their heads, » says Pavel Polka.

In memory, he gave the guests a book of 12 historical attractions of the town of Želiezovce.

« When they left, they still sat down for half an hour in a park on a bench at Schubert’s statue. They probably wanted to feel a place where their ancestors once lived, » he added.
