Bodnar starts with a reform on the protection of public officials
Bodnar admitted that the problem is not new – the medical environment, especially rescuers, have long paid attention to the growing wave of aggression against them. He emphasized that the Ministry of Justice has been working on regulations for some time to increase the safety of persons performing public trust professions. « This is not a topic that appeared suddenly, » he noted. He added that the project would go to public consultations in the coming days, and then to the meeting of the Council of Ministers.
The project provides for clarification of the provisions on the protection of public officials so that they better suit the realities and threats that they struggle with, among others Doctors, rescuers or nurses in their daily work. Bodnar expressed the hope that the new regulations would better counteract aggression and increase the safety of those who help others on a daily basis.
The head of MS also informed that work is underway in the prosecutor’s office on new guidelines for investigators. They are to help respond more effectively to crimes committed to medical workers to clearly indicate how the prosecutor’s office should conduct such cases. The point is that no such crime would be disregarded and that the perpetrators would be responsible with all firmness.
