The General Prosecutor’s Office launches with Swiss support a strategic project


The Prosecutor’s Office next to the High Court of Cassation and Justice (PICCJ) announces that a financing contract has been signed for the implementation of a strategic project in the field of financial investigations and the recovery of assets from crimes.

The program-called ‘strengthening the institutional capacity in the field of financial investigations and recovery of receivables from crimes (FIARS)’-is part of the Swiss-Romanian cooperation program and benefits from a total budget of 11,764,706 Swiss francs, of which 85% represents the non-reimbursable external financing from 10,000,000 Swiss.

The financing contract was signed between the Ministry of Justice, as a program operator, and the Prosecutor’s Office attached to the High Court of Cassation and Justice, as an operator of component, within the second Swiss contribution through the ‘Public Security and Safety Program (justice)’, which aims to strengthen the capacity of the judicial system and the judicial system of the judiciary.

The general objective of FIARS is the increase of the capacities of the Romanian authorities to apply the law and of the judicial authorities in the field of financial investigations and the recovery of assets from crimes. It will be touched by the following strategic directions:

* conducting training activities for prosecutors, judges, police, financial investigators and other specialists;

* facilitating international cooperation and exchange of good practices;

* strengthening the technological capacities necessary to carry out financial investigations.

Partners in the implementation of this project are the Basel Institute for Governance, the National Institute of Magistracy (INM) and the National Agency for the Administration of Unavailable Goods (ANABI).
