Denmark is lagging behind

If you look at the whole Nordic region, it is clear that only Denmark is lagging behind.

While the Swedes also benefit from falling fuel prices, a tax increase in Denmark has sent prices in the opposite direction.

On January 1 this year, the government raised taxes on both gasoline and diesel, and this has made the Danish fuel significantly more expensive than in our neighboring countries.

The increased taxation impact derives from an old political agreement from 2009, known as Spring Package 2.0.

Although the world market prices of oil have fallen, the Danish taxes and taxes mean that motorists at home still pay almost 5 kroner more per year. liter of gasoline than the Norwegians and the Swedes.

While diesel car owners get a little relief via a temporary tax reduction, it looks different for petrol drivers.

They are expected to pay an ever -increasing price by 2026, when a broad majority in Christiansborg has adopted additional tax increases on cars and fuel.

At the same time, there is help on the way to electric motorists. Tax Minister Rasmus Stoklund (S) has announced that Danes with solar cells on the roof can look forward to tax refund when they charge their electric cars.

Thus, owners of petrol cars are left as the big losers in the green transition.
