The case came to light on the occasion of another breakthrough: the Vatican finally rejected the dismissal of the former priest from Tarnobrzeg. After years of trials, Józef G. was definitely removed from the priest. This is the highest canonical penalty.
Recall: the victim of the priest, a 12-year-old altar boy, recorded unambiguous sexual proposals in 2006. The recording went to the curia, but then the recording was later « lost » and the priest was transferred to another parish. In 2019, the victim returned to the case. This time, the curia under the new management notified the prosecutor’s office. A sentence was passed – three years in prison. Józef G. has already served. But the matter is not closed.
There is a civil trial for compensation, in which the former altar boy demands compensation not only from the perpetrator, but also from the Diocese of Sandomierz.
