The former Daugavpils Mayor of Corruption reduces the prison sentence / day to halve
As reported, the Riga City Court previously sentenced Eigim to a three -year real prison sentence, fines, partial confiscation of property, deprivation of rights to hold the positions of public officials in state and municipal authorities and companies, as well as probation supervision. The judgment was appealed.
The Riga Regional Court overturned the judgment of first instance on April 22, 2022, in the part of the penalty for Eigim, Jānis Sprugas and in the part of the recovery of the money set for SIA « Modus Būve ».
Given that the law on the completion of the criminal case is not complied with within a reasonable time, the appellate court has reduced the sentence sentenced to Eigima’s imprisonment and imposed an alternative to a one -year supervision of probation.
Completely counting the sentences imposed on the community of criminal offenses, it was decided to impose a custodial sentence for one year and six months, a fine of € 2,220, as well as a partial confiscation of property by confiscating the vehicle and trailer for the transport of transport and depriving them of public officials.
The forced -impact means of « Modus Būve » – the recovery of money with the judgment of the Riga Regional Court has been reduced to EUR 14,800.
The judgment may be appealed within ten working days of cassation.
The case was investigated by the Corruption Prevention and Combating Bureau (KNAB) before transferring the case, which previously informed that a contract with the company represented by the entrepreneur had a contract announced by Daugavpils City Council, but Eigim had requested at least € 10,000 in support of the company in 2018.
Criminal proceedings are related to the procurement of the rebuilding of educational institutions, where the winner was « Modus Būve ». Information on the Procurement Monitoring website indicated that the total amount of the contract on the reconstruction of the educational institution Parade Street 7 was EUR 2 730 347, including value added tax. Modus Būve was selected in the competition of four bidders. The trigger owns 60% of Modus structures, according to Firmas.lv information.
Eigim has previously denied the indictment of LETA’s accusations in demanding a bribe by politics.
