The first ‘Turkish tea brewing master’ was selected in Japan – Cyprus Newspaper
Within the scope of the Turquality Promotion Project coordinated by the Turkish Ministry of Commerce, Yumika Arita was chosen as the first ‘brewing master’ in the competition in Japan. Arita, who brewed Turkish tea in Rize, expressed his interest in tea culture.
Within the scope of the Turquality Promotion Project carried out by the Eastern Black Sea Exporters Association (DKİB) under the coordination of the Ministry of Commerce, the contestants who were ranked at the tea brewing and presentation event held in Japan on 11-13 December 2024 were invited to Rize.
Yumika Arita, who was selected as the first “Turkish Tea brewing master ında in the competition, broke the Turkish tea at the event organized in Çay Bazaar and served the participants.
DKİB Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors Şaban Turgut, journalists, as a union to market products that grow in the region abroad, he said.
Stating that Rize is the capital of tea, Turgut said, “Tea is very valuable and very valuable for us. How do we sell our tea more by making activities in overseas markets.” he said.
Project Manager Zafer Ertem stated that they were pleased to host those who participated in the Turkish Tea brewing competition in Japan in Rize.
Hasan Önder, General Manager of Rize Çay Bazaar, explained that he had worked in the jury at the event in Japan and continued:
“We had presentations and information on Turkish tea and tea culture. We are trying to explain the areas where Turkish tea grows, the production stages and the role of Çay Bazaar in tea in Rize. We think that the Turkish tea sector will find a market on black tea in Japan.

Turkish tea brewing master Yumika Arita said that tea was loved in his country and that Turkish tea was also interested.
Arita, Türkiye, the most consuming country in the world, « he said that he was very surprised, » I understand the culture and taught me how tea brewed. Turkish tea culture is very valuable, I find very wonderful. I think the Japanese will love Turkish tea. » he said.
Expressing that he was pleased to be in Rize, Arita said, « I will be here for a few days to explore this place. I will go to the tea gardens and see them. » he said.
Arita explained the brewing stages of tea as follows:
“First, it is necessary to wish from the heart to brew a good Turkish tea. At the same time the temperature in which tea is brewed is a very important factor in brewing. It is not right to use a hundred degrees of boiled water. It is more effective in this respect to reduce it to 85-90 degrees.
