The first stage of the Teknofest Drone Championship was hosted by YDU – Cyprus Newspaper
The first stage of the “Teknofest Drone Championship ülen organized within the scope of Teknofest, which is the world’s largest aviation, space and technology festival, was held at the Neu Event Park on the Campus of the Near East University (YDU). Champions received their cups with the participation of President Ersin Tatar.
This week, the first torch of Teknofest fire was burned at the Near East University before Teknofest TRNC, which will be held between 1-4 May. The 1st stage of the Teknofest Drone Championship was completed on the Campus of Near East University and hosted by Neu Event Park. The winners of the first stage races lasted with the participation of President Ersin Tatar.
In the competition, which was directed by STM, individual pilots competed with the FPV (First Person View) system racing drones. In the competition, 32 athletes from all over Türkiye competed in the categories of “Fighting UAV” and “Free Mission UAV” categories with FPV (First Person View) system racing drones. Successful pilots awarded the award ceremony after the races where speed, agility and technology meet.
The award ceremony held in Neu Event Park; President Ersin Tatar, Chairman of the Board of Türkiye Technology Team Foundation Elvan Kuzucu Hıdır, Near East Bank Chairman Enver Haskasap and Rector of Near East University. Dr. Tamer Şanlıdağ, President of the Near East University Technology Transfer Office. Dr. Murat Özgören and many students attended.
The opening speeches of the ceremony was held by Elvan Kuzucu Hıdır and President Ersin Tatar, Chairman of the Board of Türkiye Technology Team Foundation.
Pilots flying to the summit received their awards!
At the award ceremony held after the competition, the successful pilots won the awards with great enthusiasm. In the competition; Hüseyin Ablak won the first place, Ahmet Furkan Yavuz came second and Emirhan Aydın İzci was third.

Tatar: The world’s largest aviation, space and technology festival is being held
President Ersin Tatar, who expressed his pleasure to see the participants who came to the country on the occasion of Teknofest TRNC, stated that the Festival started with the Drone Competition after 6 months under the leadership of Selçuk Bayraktar, President of the T3 Foundation Board of Trustees. Reminding that Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan will also participate in the festival on May 3, President Tatar said, “The world’s largest aviation, space and technology festival is being held in an independent Turkish state in the Eastern Mediterranean and the Blue Vatan.”
Referring to the importance of the participation of successful companies in Türkiye’s national defense industry, President Tatar said, “The Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus is an expression of the independence, freedom and freedom of the Turkish Cypriot, which is an integral and unbreakable part of the Great Turkish Nation. It is very important and valuable to realize the festival in our country”. Furthermore, the Near East University, which leads to science, technology and innovation, hosted the 1st stage of the Teknofest Drone Championship organization and stated that the President Ersin Tatar stated that the innovative vision of the Near East University has played an inspiring role for the youth of the country.

Elvan Kuzucu Hıdır, Chairman of the Board of Turkey, said that Teknofest is an important opportunity to strengthen the ties of the two countries and to expand the science and technology activities in the TRNC.
