Just a few hours after the second general rehearsal ended, the one evaluated by the national jury and that directly affects the outcome of the competition, the recording of the whole event has been unauthorized on the internet.
According to the available information, the hackers suspected of coming from Russia managed to intercept the satellite signal intended for jury in each country participants and posted a recording of the Russian social network VK, and it is said that it was available until the very beginning of the competition.
It is a recording that was not intended for viewers, but exclusively to the professional jury, and contains all the performances of the performers from the first semi -finals, including Croatian representative Marko Bosniak.
The director of the Eurosong Martin Green At an extraordinary press conference, he confirmed the incident and emphasized that they are aware of the risk due to satellite transmission, but also that all possible steps are taken to remove illegal content from the Internet.
– We need to broadcast transmission through satellites to the jury in every country. The technology is different between the Emirates and, unfortunately, if anyone really wants, he could hack the transfer and leak the recording. Although we strive to enhance security and have extremely smart people on our cyber security team, there are other extremely smart people who really want that recording and find a way to come to it – said Green.
He added that EBU cooperates with the Internet security team and lawyers and are ready for legal steps against those responsible.
