The first mail vote in municipal elections turns out to be invalid / day

The CEC points out that the postal voting should be used by those living abroad, so the voter who wanted to make his choice in local elections is invited to go to the station to go to the station to re -make their choice.

Postal voting in municipal elections to voters abroad began on April 18.

As reported by the CEC, in order for the Latvian citizens who are eligible for Latvian citizens who will be outside Latvia during the elections, the CEC has provided the CVK the possibility to vote through postal services.

The ability to vote by mail is only available to voters abroad. A Latvian citizen, who will reach the age of 18 on the election day and who has a declared place of residence at least 90 days before the election day in the administrative territory of the relevant municipality or owns real estate.

Applying for the postal vote shall be made no earlier than April 18 and no later than May 30.

The CEC calls on the application to the postal vote as soon as possible, immediately after April 18, so that the postal item reaches Latvia within the specified time.

Applying for postal voting takes place on « Latvija.lv » or in the e-service « Voter Data Management » of citizenship and migration affairs. During the application, the place of residence in Latvia or property in Latvia must be specified.

Postal envelopes will be considered valid if they are received before the start of the vote counting – June 7, 2025 at 8 pm Latvian time.
